are you teaching your child how to write the alphabet? If so...what do you do?

Ooops - I had all this stuff written up about how we work on the alphabet and then realized you were asking about WRITING it and not LEARNING it.

For the most part, I just print out practice sheets that have the lines for him to write on. I found a ton online and went to a local school supply store and bought a workbook, then just photocopy the pages.

Sometimes I pour sugar and/or jello mix on a plate and let him write his letters using his fingers, but that is more for Cody's benefit.

We used the papers that Christian IEP teacher sent home last year. When Christian was 3 he was recognizing them and tracing them on his leap pad and a few other workbooks. He didn't start actually remembering how to write them til he turned 4. At 3 he was just tracing and sometimes you couldn't tell what he was tracing. But for some reason last year it just came to him.

I got Lyssa a video and then a chalk board and they showed on the video the letters and she learned just by watching tv and coping the letters and then she learned in school too.

Now that she's four I have pulled out the preschool workbooks adn she will sit and watch tv and practice her alphabet.
