Fetal Ultrasound - What to Look For Boy/Girl?

My ultrasound is tomorrow morning! It's against hospital policy though to release the gender of the baby, so unless I know what I'm looking for, I probably won't be finding out.

For those of you that did find out on your ultrasound, whether you were having a boy or a girl, what should I be looking for?? I really, really want to know!

well I found out with Lyssa and it was obvious - cause when they went down there was NOTHIN there. But Kate was uncooperative - she layed on her side the whole time.

They always say that you will see 3 lines for girl parts. It actually looks like three lines. Boys...you can usually just tell. Do a search tonight for ultrasound gender pics. Then you will know what you are looking for.

Sorry, I'm no help - we wanted the "It's a......! " moment, so we never found out.

Wee-wee = boy. No wee-wee=girl.

Nah, we saw the 3 lines each time.

I tried searching for ultrasound pictures and anything that I found was so wishy washy or too small to even tell. My sister sent me a picture of my nephews flash debut ultrasound, but it was too pixeled. I'm just going to really have to keep my eyes open and watch carefully. I hope that I'll be able to see something though!

Post your ultrasound pics on here tomorrow and maybe some experts can help you! I am no good. I can barely tell when the tech points it out for me!

I'll have to look around for you. There is a place you can find out your baby's sex for $250 they send you a kit. You take a drop of blood and then send it back to them. If they are wrong you get double your money back. I saw it in a magazine and thought of you. I'll look and see if I can find it.

When I had mine done...the tech said for a girl it will be 3 lines or look like a hamburger.

For a boy...it will look like a turtle.

Good luck!!!

With Aidan there was NO question about it- I noticed it before the ultrasound tech said anything - it was CLEAR as day it was a boy- no confusing it with a cord or fingers, plus I could see the sacs there too -

With Ryan, it was harder to tell for me - maybe the ultrasound tech will slip up and say 'he' or 'she' ????

That stinks they cant tell you- its not like you are having the u/s JUST to find out the sex, if they are there they might as well be able to tell you if they can see it!

Good luck!

I would listen for the tech to slip up and say he or she to. When I had one done for Kiera and the lady wasn't sure so she couldn't say, but she was referring to her as 'she'. The next time we went and she could tell for sure she told us it's a girl and then said she thought so the week before but she has to be sure before she can say.

I heard the 3 lines thing for a girl to. That's pretty much what we saw with Kiera. Boys are a little more obvious. Post your pictures if you get any good shots. Maybe we can try to guess, lol. Here is a link to a ultrasound gallery.

Hope everything goes well today!

Have them take a crotch shot...tell them since they won't tell you you want to have a guessing match with DH!! Then post it and we'll all take a guess. With my three I knew before the tech said a word. As soon as the measured the leg bone you could clearly tell. With Jake it was so obvious the tech said "oh my...I guess you don't need me to tell you what this baby is!!" And when the DR came in the first shot she got she said" wow...he is definatley all boy!!" With Jess I saw when she was measuring and said..."it's another boy" and she said she hadn't checked yet...I told her she didn't have to...I already saw. I never got a 3 line shot...

Good luck Leah! I hope you get a clear shot!!

For us it was easy, too. She kept spreading them and mooning the camera. I hope the baby is cooperative and you get a good look today.

I saw his wee wee right away. I just knew. It looks like a penis to me.
Yep what the girls said, 3 lines for a girl, and one for a boy

Good luck! I hope you find out! Couldn't tell you what to look for-Brianna was a surprise as she kept her legs closed every ultrasound. But Anthony we knew for sure as he clearly wasn't shy and Kaitlyn they were 70% sure but she was shy as well. Hopefully the tech slips up or someone on BabyU can spot or not spot something

Um with my boys, you couldn't miss it. Besides the fact that they all had their legs wide open, you couldn't miss the two circles and wee wee. When I have seen girl ultrasound pics, it looks like a "hamburger", 3 lines.
