Ok, for their first B-days I always make a 3d cake. For Duncan I made a standup Pooh bear. Logan got a Bob the tomato. Ian got a three foot long 3D bug. I am out of ideas for Kyan. And.. about to cry everytime I think about it being time to plan this.

What else could I make that wouldn't require a professional, and would be 3d?

What about Sesame Street? You can usually find red, yellow, green and blue streamers at the dollar store as well as SS plates and napkins. We did Sesame street/Hawaiian for Kate's 2nd birthday and it turned out gorgeous! Plus you can get the Elmo cake pan at WM for like $10 or someone is probably selling one on ebay. They're Wilton pans so it's a good deal.

That dinosaur cake is cute. What about a truck, car or plane, Shona? What kinds of things does he seem to like? You know, he will love whatever you do. Try not to stress out too much, ok? It will all turn out great!

We didn't spend a lot of money on this - http://www.babyuniversity.com/forums...d.php?t=119409 I had a yellow sheet I used for the table cloth. I got the streamers, the balloons, the lei and the napkins at the dollar store. Steve made a regular square cake into a present.
