Did having pierced ears keep your dd out of your jewelry by having her own "real" jewelry? When did you start letting your dd wear jewelry?

Caitlyn has only recently gotten her ears pierced and we share the costume earrings. I don't remember ever getting into Momma's and mine were pierced when I was 6 weeks.

How old is Caitlyn now? I forget. I wanted to wait until it was her choice, but now it looks like it is definitely going to be what she wants. But I feel she's at a bad age for ear piercing just now. I don't want her to pull on them and get them infected. I thought about waiting a couple of years until she and her hands are out of her diapers.

we got liz's ears done when she was 5 months old......as for jewelry she of course has play jewelry but only has a real necklace she gets to wear on special occassions

Caitlyn's 6 going on 7. Kate's what ... 2? She might pull at them, but see if you're able to distract her.

Is there a book out there for toddlers about piercings? There seems to be one about everything else, why not? Maybe even make up a book for her and then she how she responds. Maybe like the Grant and Gallant (or whatever their names are in the Highlights magizine) where one little girl is good and leaves them alone while the other one is bad and messes with them and they get infected and she has to go to the doctor etc etc etc. Maybe even name the good one Susanne. Isn't that Kate's middle name?

YOu have a good memory! Yes, it is! I'll have to talk this over with Steve. But it's not his jewelry she's getting into, so he may not be as gungho on the idea as I am. I am thinking that Genie had Skye's done at about this age or a little younger. I guess that went pretty well.

No, it's just you stole Caitlyn's name, so I remembered.

Tell Steve that if she messes up your jewelry then HE will have to pay to replace it. After the first piece or two he should learn.

Maybe lock up yours and then get some cheap 'good' stuff from Wally or a Dollar store and let her get into 'your' jewelry. Maybe get her a couple necklaces or bracelets of her own so she has hers and doesn't need to get into yours.

Oh< I've given up keeping her out of my stuff. My most sentimental pieces got removed when she broke my grandma's watch necklace. It can be fixed, but that upset me. I'm planning on getting her a big container of play jewelry from the PX for Christmas. This is obviously not going to go away like I'd hoped. she's been into my jewelry for a long time.

Who can blame me? It's a good name.

Emily had a gold ring that I bought her as a newborn and she wore it for pictures only and then I put it away to save. She got her ears pierced last year but one got itchy a few months ago so we took them out and they closed up. I think that we are going to get them repierced this weekend though. She has a bunch of earings but I keep them with my jewelry so she won't lose them or Payton will swallow them. Otherwise that is all the jewelry she has. As she gets older she will get more. I wore gold rings with my birthstone at her age and I am sure that my Dad will be buying her one soon as well. This year for Zachary's 10th bday he bought him a real diamond stud earring. My dad loves buying people jewelry.

I got Lyssa's ears pierced when she was 2 (for her birthday) Never had problems with her tuggin on em. She never played with my earings but played with my necklaces and that is one thing I STILL wont let her have her own of.

I keep my jewelry put away where the girls cannot get to it. Back home we have a "treasure" box that has all sorts of cheap jewelry that we got at yard sales and the kids like to play in that. Why not get her some of her own play jewelry? Maddie has tons of necklaces and rings and bracelets.
