Trick-or-treat here is Saturday from 4- 5:30 p.m. Some of the people are mad that it's so early this year, but I kinda like it earlier with the little ones!!

What time is trick-or-treat where you live?

Whenever it gets dark and we are finished with dinner.

same here Krista, ours is pretty much as soon as it is dark and we are ready, usually around 6 and the kids usually come around until around 830-9

it is actually a scheduled event some places eh? that seems so strange to me!

we have a schedule too. I think it's a 2 or 3 hour block. 5-8 I think this year so that you can still go when it's light if you have really little ones and the slightly older kids can go later.

I'd hate having to answer my door all evening. This way I know when to be ready and when to be done

Pretty much whenever people start going out is when it starts and when they don't show up on your door anymore or you turn the light off, then it's over.

Ours is on Halloween, probably 6:30 or so.

How come they are not on Halloween? That is strange
post #13 of 18
Where we live there isn't a scheduled time, I didn't know that was done. We trick or treat on Halloween right after dinner around 6'ish and end about 8:30. When houses are done for the night they turn their lights off and you know not to disturb them but people ususally don't start doing that until around 9'ish. I like trick or treating when it is kind of dark out and on Halloween even though it is a Monday!

I don't understand why some places are not doing it on Halloween?

Ours is on Halloween. There is no set times. Last year we started after dinner, and we were done around 8pm.

We only do it ON Halloween when it falls on a weekend. That way no one has to worry about getting up for school the next day all hopped up on candy. If halloween is on Friday then we trick or treat 5-7or8 I think and if it's on Sat Same thing. We've always had a scheduled block of time.

I much prefer that because then there are lots and lots of kids around and all the adults can socialize too.

Usually after supper, no time limit. Just by our judgement. Weather has to do a lot with if there are lots of kids or not.

I live in NC, and trick-or-treating here is 6:00-9:00. The time is perfect for me. This way I can feed my 4 year old daughter dinner before she starts in on all the candy she will get.

Same as Krista. When it gets dark, after dinner. (An early dinner that night! )
Probably around 6:00-6:30
