So embarassed!

Tonight we went to eat Chinese food, which Emily LOVES! We are creatures of habit, and we always go to the same restaurant, so the waitresses there know us and Emily since we have been going there since before she was born. So, we were there, and the precious waitress brought Kyle his soup, and since she knows Emily LOVES egg drop soup, she brought Emily about half a bowl of soup. She was talking to Emily about Halloween, etc, and Emily looks up at her and says, "You talk funny!"
Of course, DH and the waitress are cracking up, but I felt so bad. They are so nice to us there and they love Emily, and I kept wondering if the waitress thought it was our fault that Emily said that. I apologized and then laughed with them.

You know she is just a little girl and I would not worry about it. It is no different than Gavin saying look mommy TWINS! everytime he sees more than one Korean person together.

I am so used to my kids saying something embarrassing that I don't even think about it anymore. Of course, it was my parents that were the most embarrassed. One time, they took Jessi to a petting zoo when she was about 3 or 4 and there was a woman with really long, straggly dark hair. Jessi pointed to her and at the top of her lungs said "Look Poppi! There's a monkey!"

I think what Emily said to her was probably mild compared to some of the things she has yet to say!

Don't feel bad, and as Dawn says, it's probably getting worse. Welcome to parenthood.

She's just starting to realize that people are different..

It's okay. If they waitress thinks it's YOUR fault- then she doesn't understand kids.

I think that is too funny! Emily didn't mean any disrespect, she was being honest. At least everyone laughed!
