The boys play in the backyard all the time alone. I check on them constantly though. And they are both good at tattling on each other so no one really gets into any trouble.

I don't know yet either. Kyler is turning 4. We've left him outside while bringing in grocery's and things like that. But... it's only for a few minutes.

I'll let Jared play out back for about 15 - 20 min by himself. BUT >>> the back sliding door is wide open and I can see him from the LR.

Christian is 5 and hasn't played outside by himself yet unless I'm running in to get something for a sec or carrying groceries in.

Ok I let Liz out...and occassionaly...Nicholas, BUT only because our yard is fenced in. Before it was fenced in I wouldn't even think of it

In Indiana...I let Gavin and Maddie play outside..but heck we were surrounded on all sides by electric fences and they weren't going anywhere. AND I had the door open. Here...they do not go out at all. In fact the Army says they have to be 10 to play out alone. So we go everyday for an hour or so to the playground.

They never play in the front yard unless we are there, but always in the back.

See, I think there is a difference between fenced in and not fenced in. I don't have a fenced in yard or any part of my yard fenced in so I don't dream of letting them out.

Of course, I'd probably go outside and play with them anyways because for us that is our fun time.

Both of them play outside in the back (fenced in ), but not really the front. I think 8 is a better age to get it started. jerome walks down the street by himself from the schoolbus, does that count?

Brandon and Justin do in the fenced in backyard. But I am usually in the kitchen doing dishes where I can see them or DH is in the front yard doing yardwork. And they can't reach the latch on the gate. Heck, I can't reach the latch on the gate!
