Ovulation questions

Thread Starter
Hello there, I am new to the message board scene....My story is that my husband and I have a three year old little boy and we are actively trying for baby number 2. This is our second month trying. I tell you, with all those ovulation predictors out there, it is really difficult to predict anything, but my LMP was Oct. 26 saying that I was supposed to ovulate around 7,8,9. So to get a jump on things, my husband and I started trying around the 3rd of this month just to cover all of our bases since I don't know for sure when I ovulate. So a friend of mine also suggested using an Ovulation Predictor stick, so I tested on Sunday, it was negative, Monday it was negative and Tues. my line was just a little darker than the day before. For the first time in my life, I started paying attention to my CM and everything really looked like we were in there on Monday. But if I was supposed to be ovulating within the next couple of days, I would have thought that the OP stick would have showed something on Sunday. So low and behold, my LH surged on Wed. afternoon when I tested, so we did the deed Wed. and Thurs. night, so out of all of this jumble I am talking about, does anyone think that I am ok with when we did the deed since it sounds like the calendars on the internet were off on the calcualations, due to it being hard to predict, I get that, but how accurate are the OP sticks???
Thanks
Jen

From what I know the predictors are fairly accurate. It is possible that you ovulate on a different day then what the calendar says you will, I know I do. It took me forever to figure it out. I've given up trying all those other things though and we just plan on having sex every other day for the entire month this month and see what happens Not that my DH is complaining We've been TTC for 7 months now. I'm going to buy one of those predictor kits if we aren't pregnant this month too. Good luck and
Everyone here is very friendly and lots of the ladies are very knowledgable about all that stuff.

I haven't ever used an OP before, but I've heard that they work really well. I'm tempted to get one and try it next month.

I think they are pretty accurate. We used the Clear Plan Fertility Monitor. When we were ttc my son we were using it and I had an IUI done with a trigger shot so I KNOW I o'd--besides the fact that I got pregnant. My monitor never went to peak that month. So I think it can be wrong. Not what you wanted to hear, I know. This time I breastfed until a little over a year then ds weaned. We ttc right away and got a peak reading the first month and I got pregnant. I realy hope you get the answer you are looking for. So how long do you have until you can test?

Ovulation Predictors are generally pretty accurate for most women. CD 7,8 or 9 sounds a little early for ovulation, but every woman is different. Generally ovulation occurs 11 to 16 days before your period starts.

From the results of your ovulation test...it seems as though you've pinpointed it well!

Sending lots of babydust your way!

I used them this month, and got only one positive, on Tuesday around noon, and I ovulated Wednesday morning (i feel a very distinct pain). I used the OPs because last period was my first after my MC, and I wanted to see how my cycle regulates itself again.
From what I know, you have better chances of getting pg when you "do the deed" before you ovulate. The egg is only fertile for about 24 to 48 hours at most, so the Thursday one might not have done much, but everything before should be great. For me DH and got together last on Monday night before I O'd Wednesday morning, so we'll see how that worked.

Good luck to you, we need some fresh pg women on here...

They are very accurate as long as you are not dealing with any hormonal imbalances. A positive on those tests would be two lines of equal color (don't worry about the thickness matching).

Good luck to you!!

I think I'm buying one of those next month. I haven't even seen them though. Are they in the area with the other ovulation predictors at Walmart?
