FIVE--yes I said FIVE

I picked up my mom's PET Scan film and report today and her CT Scan film and report and her records from her ENT.
Boy, everything makes so much sense now.
First of all, I looked at the PET scan film. The mass is high up in her lung, towards her back and near her heart. It looks huge on the film.
Then I read the report. It states that there are TWO nodules (masses) on her left lung--both in the lower to mid region and two nodules on her right lung--one in the upper region and one in the lower region. It stated that those four are sub-centimeter, millimeter in size and too small to be accurately measured via a PET Scan. So, basically they could be cancerous, too, but the PET Scan can't pick it up because the masses are not big enough. It goes on to state that there is a hilar mass in the upper right lung. This mass measures 2.7 cm (large considering she just had a CT Scan a few months ago that showed nothing). So the total is FIVE. Five suspicious places in various areas on BOTH lungs. The report also said there were symptoms of emphysema present in her lungs, too.
So then I picked up the CT scan film and report. I can't tell much about the CT film, there are so many, and I didn't feel like going through them all.
Then I went to her ENT and picked up her records. Well, this is where it gets interesting and infuriating!
It seems that when she started going to see the ENT without me for her check ups, she also started lying to him. She told him she had quit smoking in January! That is not true at all. So, I took out my pen and wrote, STILL SMOKING on every page where it said she used to smoke or she had stopped smoking. It also said on there that back in October, when she had a chest xray, the spot on her lung showed up then, and it says in the report that it was suspicious and of concern and a CT scan was ordered. MY MOM NEVER TOLD ME about that! Had I known that anything had shown up on the xray, I would have been going to all those other appointments with her. She led me to believe that this was her annual CT, not a special one.

So now I know why she hasn't told me anything about her appointments or has told me she has them at the last minute. She doesn't want me to know she has been lying to her doctors. How pointless. Now I know, and they are going to know, too. I am going to call Sherry at Dr. An's office and have her change her records to indicate she is still smoking away. As if they won't be able to tell soon enough. It's snowballed now, and she is hip deep in this and has tried to cut me out of her medical affairs because of stupid lies. How ridiculous. And no I am not going to confront her. It's pointless and I am not looking to cause more friction or to upset her. I think she is being punished enough right now without me chastising her. But gosh, it makes me so mad to think she has lied to her doctors and then tried to keep me out of it just to cover her lies.

I'm sorry that she has been lying to you!!! And to her doctors!! Domino effect!!!

I'm glad you know now and are aware of everything .. now her doctors will be and that sure is helpful to them when trying to save her life!!

They could probably tell anyway. I understand it shows up in your blood, urine and in all those other tests. she's only hurt herself by lying to her drs. I am so sorry, Tammy.
