Bribery

I have resorted to bribery. I told dd that she could have my pinky ring which she adores, if she started peeing in the potty everyday with no accidents. I wonder if it will work. Somehow, I think I will have my pinky ring a while longer.

This is the second child we've potty trained and for us, bribery didn't work very well with either. They just had to be ready and make up their minds that they were going to use the potty. Hopefully your DD will do the same soon. And you never know . . . that pinky ring just may be the incentive she needs!

I had a "grab bag" for Kyler. I went to the dollar store and bought a whole bunch of stuff. Every time that he went to the potty - he got to pick out a prize.
I had two bags - one for pee. One for poop. If he pooped - they were "bigger" prizes.

It worked well for us.
Hopefully it works when it's time for Delaney to start too.

So far, so good. She immediately used the potty when I made the offer. She is really good to do things for rewards. If there's a reward in it, she will do it. And she really loves my ring. I let her wear it just to give her a taste of it.

I bought a big book of stickers that I use as a reward for Maci. She loves to pick one out after she uses the potty.
For a while, she was doing great with it but then we regressed. She is starting to do good again but I am not pushing it too much. I did that with Hailey and I think that it really hurt the progress. They have to be ready, imo.

Good luck! I never tried bribery with the potty cause it doesnt work anywhere else for us.

I think I'd be afraid after she earned the ring she would regress back into her old ways.

I think she's ready. She's peeing or pooping in her diaper and immediately screaming to have it removed. I've not been feeling well lately so I haven't been helping her with it. Hopefully, starting tomorrow, I'll feel up to helping her with this. So far, she's been going in the potty all afternoon. She really loves my ring. It has flowers on it. It's one of those adjustable rings that anyone can wear.
