Would you be opposed to a Polish name?

That is the question I got from DH last night.

Ok, here are my thoughts. I would not mind if we were into our heritage, were active in the Polish branch of the Catholic church. Which we do neither.... He says I am very into my heritage. HMMMM, when? I have never heard a Polish thing from you in the almost 9 years we have been together.

And I don't know any names other than my grandfather's which is Stanislaw and no, I think that is ugly. No disrespect to my grandfather, but I don't want children making fun of him for his name. Neither Brandon nor Justin have a polish name so wouldn't it be weird to just throw one in now? I will do some research and see if there are any "normal" names that I would like.

I have polish heratige - granted it 's very little. BUT I am not opposed to it as long as it dosent make the new baby "stand out" from the rest of the family.

Alexander spelled Aleksander but spell it how ever

that's the only normal type one I found

You'll have to do a search on Polish names. What is John in Poland? Dh and I were talking about that last night, how almost every language has a John in it and how it is very popular everywhere.

Here's a site with some cool polish names - http://www.thinkbabynames.com/keyword/1/polish

Michal is neat. I tried convincing DH to use Aleksander but he didn't like the spelling. Don't worry, I'm sure this baby will have a name before he comes home!

I hope I didn't offend anyone, I didn't mean the title to be a question to you all, just to state the question DH gave me. I don't have anything against Polish names I just thought it was funny that he suggested that, given nothing else in our life is Polish!

Thanks for the site, Grace, I will check it out.

I like Nikolaus and Michael, but then those are typical names anyway.

DH told me what it was for John last night, but I forget. But first of all, he didn't want the child named John, so why Polish for John?

Because it's not exactly the same. My great grandmother was a Katherine and Caitlyn is Celtic for Katherine. The same, but not the same. KWIM? On that list, I liked Jerrik.

Jerrik is kind of nice but if I do another J name Brandon will be really mad!

I printed out some lists I found and the only names I like are:

Erek, Eryk

Gerik

Michal

Though I am not thrilled with any of spellings.

I will take home to DH and let him see them.

One of the names I think was Louden, meant like "most loved" and I liked that, but I didn't care for the name. What about Irish names? They are very pretty.

He wants Polish because we are polish. I told him some of them last night and he wasn't impressed. At this point, I might not even be living with jerkface when the baby comes and I will name him myself.

Sorry but DH is a #*()*( #)#)*#*)# #)*)*#**#)#**() in my eyes today....
