First doctors visit

Thread Starter
So, despite another doctor's remark that no doctor would see me before I had been trying for a year, a friend of mine has a sympathetic woman doctor, and I have made an appointment for this Friday to get blood work done (it's a private doctor but to be honest, I don't care that I have to pay for it and it is only 50 dollars). She said it did not matter what day of my cycle I was coming in, which seems a bit strange from what I read here, but no matter.

I want to be as prepared as I can for the visit, so I am asking you girls to help me out:
- What sort of questions can I expect from the doctor?
- What sort of questions should I ask them?
- What sort of tests will they do/ should I ask for?
- Anything I should mention?
- Any other tips?

The doctor will ask you how long your cycle is each month, how long AF stays, if it heavy, light or overly painful, if you miss periods. Will ask for a sexual history.

Testwise, she might do some hormone test to make sure you are ovulating and that they are in the proper balance. Maybe a thyroid test as any imbalance in your thyroid gland can cause problems conceiving.

Your questions might depend on what advice she suggests.

I don't know what other advice or suggestions to give you, maybe one of the ladies can help too. Good luck at the appointment and keep us posted on what happens.
