What would you do in this situation?

Say you have 3 kids... it is a snow day and they are very excited about going outside and playing. 1 of them has a chest cold with a cough and sore throat and really shouldn't be outside. Do you explain the best that you can to the sick child and deal with the disapointment or do you disapoint them all and keep them in to be fair?

I would say you have to have the sick one stay inside but try to do something fun inside that the others don't get to do, like make cookies or arts and crafts or something. I don't think it is fair to make the others stay in and they will just make you miserable. Just try and make it special for the sick one.

I agree with Jennifer. The others will be resentful and ticked off the whole day and probably get in a fight. Make Christmas ornaments or do something special with the sick one. One day he will be well while they are sick.

I guess I'm the bad mommy ... I'd probably let the sick one go out for a little while. If they are anything like mine, it takes 1/2 an hour to get them all bundled up, they go outside, get cold, then come back in 10 minutes later anyway. Then it's time for a warm bath and hot cocoa.

I thought of that too, Dawn.

You know honestly I would let them go outside for a little while too but it isn't my child that is sick and his dad said no going outside.

Ahhh ... different story then. Well, I guess in that case, I'd let the other two go out and maybe find a DVD that the sick one would like to watch.

I would keep the sick one inside and let the others go out and play. I would do fun stuff or have a special treat for the one who had to stay in. It's not being unfair to let the well children go out and make the sick child stay in. That's just life. JMHO

Plus, it's a good lesson--they all won't be driving at the same time or doing other stuff at the same time, so they just have to understand that sometimes the others will do things that they can't and vice versa.

i would keep the sick one in with special rights... specially since dad said so.. otherwise i would have answered like Dawn, and let them just go
