Dress up/Fashion show party

Ally wants to have a dress up/fashion show birthday party. I already picked up tons of stuff at the dollor section of Target for the girls to use and then take home as goodies. But I am at a loss as to exactly how to do this party.

Any ideas? Please?

Oh, and we are going to video tape it just like the real thing!

When Britt was 4 I had that dress up Birthday/tea party.

I rented a trunk of dress up clothes and hosted it like that!

I am going to go thru my closet and pull out things they can use. Thought I would hit Goodwill, etc for some things, too. I tried the tea party idea but she didn't go for it. Wants the fashion show instead.

I did think about crowns out of making cardstock and letting them decorate them. I know you can buy bags of "jewels" and stuff.

ooh letting them make their own crowns for the show would be fun. I say get a colored rug or fabric to make a run way in the living room or wherever there is room so they can have their fashion show. Set up another curtian at one end so that they can come out from behind it like it's back stage. Good luck, have fun and we want pictures!!!

How fun. Lots of play sparkly jewelry, clothes... make a stage so they can walk the catwalk. Video tape and get disposable camera's so they have the flashing lights. Maybe a strope light while they walk? Get some cheapo champagne glasses with apple juice or whatever to make pretend they are really stars, put the gift stuff in baskets like the take home stuff the models get. If you have them making crowns and such, what about just finding different types of materials so they can create their own fashions? Someone should be there describing each outfit as they walk too.

Here is what I have come up with so far (with help you from ladies):

When the girls get here (8 of them including Ally), they will get their goodie bags. These are little felt purses that I picked up at Target. With the purse comes a necklace and a ring. Inside the purse I have put an eraser, a pencil and a pen with a feather on it. They also got a small notepad so they can "sign autographs". I also put in 2 bracelets, another kind of ring and a noise maker. These they get to keep to take home. (I'll toss some candy in there the day of the party.)

Off to the dining room to make their crowns. I have found a few online and just have to decide which one I want to do. I am taking them to the copy place to have them enlarged. I have jewel stickers, glitter and stuff for them to decorate them with.

Then we will go into my bedroom where they can pick out their outfits. Ally has a few dress up outfits already and I am going to run by the Goodwill store to get a few more. I have some boas for them to use and I am looking for some scarves and hats. May just see if I can borrow a few from people. Haven't figured out what to do about shoes, tho. Maybe use my old dress shoes since I hardly wear them anymore. Once they have picked out their outfits, we will do "makeovers" using all the play makeup Ally got for Xmas and her birthday. I am going to get out ALL of my hair stuff (and there is alot of it) so we can fix their hair for them. Then we get dressed and ready for the show.

Depending on the weather, we may do the show on the patio. If not, then my office/LR space will work. I have some old black material to block of the "backstage" area (my office area). I have a 5X7 red non-slip rug in my kitchen, so we will use that for the "runway" just outside the black curtain. I am going to hang a bunch of those mini white lights for effect in the LR and close all the curtains. Rick will video tape each girl as they come out and either Kin or myself will be the "announcer" and the other one will be backstage with the girls.

After each girl has done her thing, then I will have them all come out for pictures and autographs and to take a bow. Then it is back to the diningroom (miraculously transformed from craft area to eating area by daddy while the girls were dressing) for hor'derves (finger sandwiches, punch in fancy plastic cups and fruit and veggie trays - models have to keep their figures, after all! LOL!)

I still need to come up with a few more accessories and I have no idea about music yet. So, what do ya'll think?

it sounds WONDERFUL. I don't know about music though Something fun and cute I guess.

Any dance music will be good. Have Ally pick out her favorites, or let each girl pick a song to strut too. That sounds like so much fun!! I am so jealous, I have a lifetime of train and truck parties to look forward to.

I had to do the train thing for years. Coming up with boy parties can be just as hard, I know. But it is fun to be able to do these girly things with Ally now that she is old enough.
