Too early for that!

Brandon has been known in our house as Bubbie since birth. Recently he has decided he doesn't like it anymore and has asked DH and I to stop calling him that, to call him Brandon. He says Justin can call him Bubbie, but we can't!

Isn't it too early to lose the nickname????

Aw, he will probably change his mind Bailey goes by Bubba with most of the family and when he was around 6 he said that he didn't like anyone to call him Bubba but the girls. Now he is proud to be Bubba and got so tickled at a radio announcement the other day for 'Bubba in the morning'. Names are a big deal for kids. Bailey used to get really upset about female Baileys until we had a talk about it. I would just try to call him Brandon as much as you can remember to for a little while. I kwym though, i was really sad when Bailey didn't want us to call him Bubba.

Zachary just recently started telling us not to call him Buddy which is what we've called him since he was teeny.

My younger brother did that. He said that '"bubba" was mean now and went away. I'm good Cody!' He never let us call him Bubba again.

Well, if he doesn't like it, then calling him that will probably only upset him or make him mad at you. It may be that he thinks Bubbie is baby talk for "brother" and that only his brother should call him that. Ask him what he wants to be called and see what he says.

I started calling Jonathan "Bubba" at some point in time and it stuck. Now it's gotten to be habit, and it's a hard one to break.

I'll probably still call Hayley "Bubba" even when shes a teen.

This may sound strange, but Grant and I call each other "Bubba" instead of "Darling" or "Sweety" etc. (We call each other "Hon" sometimes too)
