Repeat c-sections

This came up in conversation this weekend. If you know in the beginning that you’re going to have to have a c-section, do they normally schedule your surgery before your due date? Someone told me that a lot of doctors will schedule you a week or two before your due date so you don’t have to worry about uterine ruptures and things.

They scheduled my second repeat a few days before my due date (went into labor and messed their plans up) and the 3rd was at 39 weeks. So in my experience they do schedule you in advance.

In my experience, yes they schedule you prior to your due date to prevent any surprises!

Yep. One practice I went to does it 2 weeks before and the one I switched too does them 1 week before.

My doctor scheduled me a week before my due date.

From what I've read they do that alot so that there is no emergency C-section. They like to plan ahead.

I just went in today. I can be scheduled anywhere between March 18 and the 24th. She said they like to go in the middle of that week. I requested March 20, it is a Monday. As long as it is available, then it is no problem. My actual due date is Aprl 1, so about 7-10 days from due date.

My docs said they'd go as far as three weeks with an amnio. That's what I did with my son. Amnio to check for lung dev. If they're ok then schedule the c-section asap. In my case it's b/c I had as tillbirth at 42 weeks and they know I won't go into labor on my own anytime early. I wanted Zach out and safe as soon as possible so I had the amnio at 37 weeks and he was good to go. 7 lbs 5 oz and no problems.

I'm due May 18th this time and am going to try to go for May 4th (my dad's b-day) unless they recomend going earlier.
