Is it True?!?

Let me lay down the details first...

My DH and I have been TTC since November. This month my period is 8 days late. I have tried 4 tests and all are negative. No signs/symptoms. I went off my BC in early November, had a regular period in December, and this month nothing so far.

Is it true, that you should wait at least 2 weeks after the estimated date of conception to get a positive test?

I know every women is different- some are detected sooner than others. I just don't know what's going on here... and I don't want to call the Dr. until the entire month is over.

It is possible. I got negatives with all of mine before a positive came up. Are you usually regular? Your cycle could be off due to be off of the pill. I would wait a couple of days, do one first thing in the morning when levels are the strongest. GOOD LUCK!!

Before I went on the pill I had very regular periods. I understand that my period my be a little off now, however I had a very regular period last month.

Things that make you go "hmmmm..."

I would wait to test and then like Jennifer said do the testing first thing in the morning. Good luck!

I heard that your morning "tinkle" is the best to use for the test, but I wasn't sure that it made that much of a difference!

Because it's been saved up, during the day the hormones get diluted because you pee more often than you do at night. (Or something like that)

If you have a family dr, you might want to get a blood test to put your mind at ease. Good luck!

Not sure. I always got a positive the day I missed my period.

I had the same thing happen to me about 2 months after I went off the pill. I went off it in march and in June I was soooo late I was sure I was pregnant. It is pretty common to have a BIG change in your cycles for a few month after coming off the pill. I'd relax and let what will happen happen. The more you stress the later AF will be.

Now my hubby and I have been trying since March and still aren't pregnant but my cycles are totally regular and we've been under a ton of stress too.

Mel,
I will definitely take your advice and not stress! I really appreciate it! Thanks a ton!

It's common for your cycle to be a little off after you stop you bc. It can take a few months for the birth control to totally get out of your system. I'm sure you are anxious to get pregnant but don't stress too much it can take several months.

I read somewhere that after your first period without BC, that the BC is out of your system?!?!?

most doctors recommend waiting 2 cycles before TTC after stopping the BC pill.

The average time for most people to get pregnant after the pill is 8 months so don't start worrying too soon.

Gotcha!

It also depends on the BC method you were using. If you were on the shot (Depo Provera) that takes longer to gt out of your system than pills. Mel mentioned a good baseline (8 months). Relax, enjoy the time with hubby, and try not to stress
