I need some tips

We are getting ready to move Jared from his sitter ( home based, and she has cared for him since he was 9 mos old ) to a center. I want the transition to be as smooth as is possible. Any tips ? Anyone been thru this ?

I would take him to the center and let him get use to it. For instance: I would go with him an hour or so every day for the week before he started. Letting him see how the schedule works... get to meet some of the kids... get use to the teachers... etc.

Most likely - he will go running off to get involved and forget you are even there. So then when the week comes around that you are going to leave him... it won't be a big deal to him.
(I hope!)

Good luck.

Good tips. He's at an age where he'll probably take right to the new center. Zach stayed with my parents everyday from birth to 14 months. Then he started at a center 2 days a week. He loved it from day one. I sent him with a little photo album labeled with his family member's names. So that his teachers could look through the book with him and call people by name. They said he really liked it. Send some of his favorite snacks, blanket, etc.

Chances are when he finds that he has other kids to play with, he will be just fine.

I know when I started Lauren in Day Care I took her a couple of times a week for maybe 3-4 hrs. Just enough to let her get used to someone other than me and for her caregivers to get used to her. But of course, that was as an infant.

I really don't have any good solid advice. Sounds like the other girls do though!
As long as he has some of his favorites from home, he will probably be fine!

Just some big hugs for the lil guy!
