I would love to either be a foster parent when the boys get older or do the Fresh Air Fund!!

I have, but I would be afraid that I would get too attached. Maybe when the kids get older...

I've thought about it, but dh vetoed the idea, then we had dd. So that's the end of it. One child is all I can handle right now and I'm not talking about the small one!

DH and I considered it before we had the kids, we even had their fostering package sent to us. We then talked more indepth about and decided that it something we might look into after we have our own children. If you are considering it good luck, we have friends that do it and they find it very rewarding.

We are considering if after we get settled again. I think it would be a great thing to help a child. My parents were foster parents a couple times when my brother and I were small and it was wonderful.

We had friends back home that were foster parents. Our sitter also had foster children. I am trying to help a lady whose sister is taking in some little boys who were abused. I just wondered what all the requirements were and everything. I'm not entirely sure it's something I could do. I know I would get way too attached.

Of course you'd get attached. That's what makes it work really, the fact that you love those children. Hopefully the time they spent with you will have changed their lives, even if you never know for sure.

We considered this when adoption seemed out of reach. I really have doubts only because I KNOW I would get too attached and it would break my heart to send a child back to an abusive family. And with having a day care home I knew that going to appointments and making time for family visits would be near impossible. We went to a couple of classes and then decided now wasn't the time. It's not something we'd do while Katie is small but we aren't discounting it in the future. There are so many kids out there in need of a stable home. And don't even get me started on the system that refuses to put the kids needs before the parents. ARGH!
