Phone calls after a certain time?

Have you let your family and friends know not to call before/after certain times?

Our before time is 8 am, after is 10 pm... Unless there's an emergency. But lately MIL's been calling after 10, she's done it 3 times in the last week, because she needs help with something online. She knows that even though it's 9 there it's 10 here, the first time she did it I reminded her of that.

I'm extremely annoyed... and next time she does it I plan on letting her know!

What do you do when somebody calls before or after your set time?

We dont really have set times either. Both girls for the most part sleep through the phone. We get phone calls like 6 am up til past midnight somenights cause of the stores. Weve even got 2am phone calls from the cop shop when people leave doors unlocked at the stores.

I actually get mad when people call the house after 8:00 pm. My kids are not good sleepers and the phone will usually wake them up.
Drives me CRAZY!!
If it's an emergency - obviously, call any time.

MIL is the only one who usually calls around 10:00. And DH doesn't have the b@lls to tell her to stop.

I have no time limit set either. Most people dont call after 10, unless it is an emergency.

I don't have a limit set. DH's friends and his work calls at all hours.

Geez I would just start taking the phone off the hook. I think that it is disrespectful to call that late especially when there's a little one.

I was taught growing up that phone calls after 7.30pm were rude and I have never changed that opinion . Of course, for my fathers generation, phones were a novelty and I think the 'rules' were similar to personal visits. But what you grow up with is hard to shake off. Emergency's obviously don't count.

As to what to do with your MIL Des had two friends that thought nothing of calling up at ungodly hours of the day and night bc they had been drinking or were bored so I started answering the phone calls (the ones at stupid times, like 1am) by saying "Whats wrong?, who died?, who's in hospital?" and I really wasn't joking bc everytime the phone rang at an odd hour my heart would start racing and those questions were running thru my mind anyway. It only took a couple of calls from each of them before they realised that calling that late made me think something had gone horribly wrong with my family and they stopped calling Des at stupid hours.

Good luck

Our times for people not to call is also before 8 am and after 10 pm unless it is an emergency.

we get phone calls from people at all hours. We have cell phones, no land line at all, I have it set up for different rings for different people anyhow. If it's important and I sleep through the ring I figure that they'd keep calling until someone answered if it was an emergency. I know who I can and can not call at 10pm or 6am, everyone different.

If your MIL does it again don't be so nice about it and just tell her NOT to call that late unless someone is dead, hopefully she'll get that hint.

I don't have a time limit, but the only person that ever calls me early is my mom (and it's when I am already 'supposed' to be up for the gym ) Usually no one calls later. My SIL called one week 3 times after 8 (9 their time) and I go to bed at 8, the first time I told her I was in bed sleeping, and after that I just didn't answer the phone. She calls my cell phone, and not the house phone so it records who calls. What really gets me is that when she calls it is never important
