Materials:

Coloring page
construction paper
stiff cardboard (almost anything you have lying around the house will work. I used an frozen food box.)
scissors
glue
String, yarn, or shoestring
Hot wax (if using string or yarn)
Wax paper (useful, but not 100% necessary)
hole punch

Instructions:

1) Glue construction paper to cardboard. Let dry to touch. Can press under a book to keep flat. Use wax paper to keep glue from sticking to book or other surfaces.

2) Cut out image from coloring pages leaving some white space around image. I picked a dog in the picture below. It's best to stick to simple images with rounded edges and not too many appendages for this project.

3)Glue coloring page to construction paper. Let dry to touch.

4) Cut out image from cardboard leaving a border around the edges.

5) Punch holes at 1.5 to 1 inch intervals along the edge of project about a 1/2 from the edge.

6) Tie yarn onto project through one of the holes along the side. Allow enough yarn for your child to have extra when he or she plays with this toy. This step is not required. If using shoestring, you are finished.

7) For yarn or string, dip in hot wax to keep ends from fraying.

Here's a pic of the completed project. Sorry about the wet hair.
