Hmmm.

How odd. Shawns daycare teacher does a little progress report every so often. I just got his today and it's odd. She has marked that he won't do ABCs or colors or shapes with them. He does here at home. She has marked that he puts his shoes on by himself - he does not do this at home. He won't count with them - he counts to 15 on his own at home. He claps/moves his hands to rythym (i.e. patty cake) with them - he won't do it at home.

See a pattern? Most of the stuff he does at home he won't do at daycare. And the stuff he does at daycare he won't do at home. It's like he's divided it up. I wonder why?......

Hmm does she have the right kid???

But really ... sometimes this happens with us. I got in an arguement with my old daycare. I thought Ryan didnt know his colors- the teacher insisited with me that he did. I didnt believe it - but he really did.

There were things he would do at home too - but would be too shy to do at school - OR - maybe he didnt get the attention when he did it at school like I gave him?? I dont know -

I would follow it and see how it is going ... and maybe ask for more frequent progess reports.

It could just be that he gets embarrassed or too shy to perform on demand... things like ABC's and counting but the other stuff like clapping is just joining in with other kids and playing and not something where the attention is focused on him.

Zachary counts all day long but if you ask him to show somebody what he can do he gets really shy and quiet.
