I SO know what you mean!

Yep, I know what ya mean!

Hmmmmm are we talking about a specific someone?
I know some people like that. It's not worth giving the advice anymore.
I know a few people like that as well.
I've stopped giving my advice or point of view. It was a waste of my breath and it just ended up annoying me.

My advice is

This person probably just wants validation not advice really. So just validate her feelings and that is probably enough. If she says she's upset about X, just say, "Gee, it sounds like you're really upset about X. " or something like that and she'll go away happy and you won't have to deal with her critism anymore. I heard that one on Oprah.

to you. That situation must be really frustrating.

I agree, Lenora.
You just have to learn who really wants advice and who just wants validation that way you don't waste good advice and valuable time.

Yeah, I'm with Lenora and Tammy on this one.

Usually, by the time somebody gets around to asking for MY advice, they've already made up their mind and they just want to know if I agree. They're going to do what they want to do anyway. They just want someone to give them the "go ahead".

I know people like that too... its almost as if they are 'asking' for advice just to come up with a starter to tell me about them - in a round about sort of way. not actually LOOKING for advice after all.

Yep, I know someone like that. I don't waste my breath anymore!

IMO, they don't want any advice, they want to whine and wallow...
You talking about me again? Nah, I usually take your advice since it seems we share a brain most of the time anyway.

I so know what you mean though. Asking for advice, you have to be open for it whether you like it or not. If you cannot take the constructive ciriticism that is associated with it sometimes, then figure things out on your own and do not b!tch when someone offers their advice.
