Easter Chicks?

Anyone give their children real chicks for Easter? I've heard about more and more people doing it lately. Sure chicks are cute and sweet but what do you do with them? and don't chicks become chickens? Then what do you do with them?

I think that this is a question for mIchelle.

I've never heard of anyone giving their kids chicks for Easter. Chicks are cute but what would you do with them when they got bigger? I guess my dh country boy would know. I wouldn't want to deal with them.

I think it is a problem. People give chicks but once they grow up, they are usually abandoned or taken to a shelter. Same thing with rabbits.

EAT THEM!

My parents gave me one when I was a kid. And yep, it grew up into a big ugly chicken that was quite messy. Then we took it back to the farm where we got it from and as we were leaving, I happened to glance inside the door where they met their maker.

Needless to say, they had to convince me they'd never hurt MY chicken. Guess I was too naive to wonder how they'd tell MY chicken from the 400 other ones

My dad got us chicks for Easter one year because he thoguht my brother would like them. My mom about killed him. Of course, we ended up taking them to my grandparents farm. They had chickens there for the eggs and all.
