I have to admit, Ryan is the king of sarcasm and we lap it up, we love it, we laugh- and we LOVE how he uses sarcasm in the right ways at the right times - its hysterical ...
however, I am not sure he can interpret OUR sarcasm at times... and last night, I ended up 'scolding' Scott in front of Ryan - I try not to talk down to Scott in front of Ryan but last night I felt the need to....
Ryan was being perfectly honest, he was telling Scott - that sometimes he can't tell if one of his teachers at school is a boy or a girl - and asked which this person was. He said when the teacher wears certain clothes, and pulls their hair back they really look like a boy so he was confused.
Scott's response " Oh thats REAL nice - I am SURE she would love to hear that"
He never actually answered him, and never said, She is a girl, etc = so I jumped in (from the other room) and basically told scott and Ryan, that she is a very pretty girl - and that was a good question to ask mommy and daddy but we wouldnt want to say that to her, in case it hurt her feelings that maybe she sometimes looks like a boy ...
But Scott didn't even think about it- because Ryan is so adept with sarcasm, he didnt think that by telling him she would love to hear it - that Ryan may believe that and tell her that!!!
Sarcasm isnt the best trait, and we need to curb how we use it and not enforce Ryans - but its so cute its hard ...
