He is SO SKINNY!

I love my skinny guy ...

but it makes for a terrible time buying him clothes!!! He must have had a growth spurt - UP not OUT!

His pants have always been short, but now they are SO SHORT. Here is the problem which I know you have had the same issue ....

He is TOO SKINNY for 4T - but the length is ok, actually about 1/2 inch short ..,. but they FALL off him, I can not even belt them right- because 1) he has a hard time taking on and off the belt for the bathroom, and 2) when I put a belt on him I have to fold the jeans over in front to actually get them to fit his stomach and its uncomfortable....

And I dont have a fortune to spend on custom fit clothes... I guess he will just have to deal with it or wear alot of draw string sweat pants ...

Do you have a sewing machine, Dina? You could put a dart up the back to make them fit better more comfortably. I have had to do that to several of dh's pants.

Zachary is the same way. He'll be 5 next month and is the height of an average 5 year old (maybe a teeny bit short) but only weighs 32lbs. For pants to fit him well they would need the waist of a 3 and the length of a 5. I put a belt on him yesterday for Kindergarten registration (at home we just let his pants sag and his undies show) and he had an accident later that afternoon at home because he couldn't get the belt undone. I'm not going to do that to him while he's in school. Right now we are just sticking to elastic waist pants for his everday wear. I wish we had a better option though.

these are great !! i buy them for all of my kids !! they are very skinny too..no need for a belt

Logan is 40 lbs and he needs a 4t for lengthe but they are lose in the waist, he has very narrow hips and forget a belt, would have too many accidents. Luckily I can find stuff, even jeans, with elastic wasit atleast across the back. Fortunatly Spring is coming and before you know it shorts will be the prefered choice and maybe over the summer he will even out some.

Ahh I have the same issue! I have a hard time finding a belt small enough for her waist! Alyssa is like 32 pounds I have found the riders from Walmart fit her perfectly! (in a 4 so they are long enough)

But then again I can sew if I need too

We have a pair of the Old Navy jeans in a 4T and they fit a lot better than some but he still ends up yanking them up once in a while.

My oldest is the same way. We tried the adjustable waist pants but they looked ridiculous because we'd have to adjust them so much. This past summer we found several brands of pants at Sears that were "Slim". Thankfully they do the trick for us!

Another reason why I love summer so much. Zachary can wear shorts and the length isn't so much of a problem.

Joey has that problem, too. I've found that the adjustable waist pants work, most of the time. He hasn't gotten the hang of belts yet. I think except for one pair of jeans, everything he owns is at least partially elastic waisted. I did find, that Wranglers 5T fit, but size 5 is too big in the waist. Go figure.

I have the same problem with TJ! I bought him some Cherokee jeans from Target and they have the adjustable bands inside. Needless to say, they are all scrunched up on the sides where I had to pull the bands way in, but at least he isn't wearing highwaters any more!

michael is a stick and the old navy and gap work great with him...

I have the same problem for my kiddos. Even the jeans with the built in adjustable waists are too big on Bailey. That boy is so skinny but he can out eat Johnny and I both! Old Navy jeans fit Zach well but still fall off Bailey I have found none that fit Bailey really well. I used to buy them Levi's and they fit really well in the waist but now my boys don't like the straight leg jeans, only the carpenter style. So maybe you could try Levi's if your lil man doesn't have a preference. With Emily the only jeans that fit her well are Zana Di and Limited Too. The child is built like Mommy, small waist and big booty!

I think those carpender's pants may just be more roomy around the waist. I made my dh three pair and granted he's lost some weight, but I'm constantly taking them in.

My dd has the same problem. Right now, she's between sizes. I'm glad some of her stuff from last summer still fits so I have some time to figure out what size she's going to be wearing.

Zach is like that too. Do the Gap things work for Ryan? They have an elstic inside the waistband with buttons. You can cinch them in and make the waist smaller. Zach was 34" and only 26 lbs at his 18 month. He's always been in the 95th or above for height and about the 50th for weight.

My nephew has the same problems and he gets a lot of stuff from Land's End. I'm not sure the older kids Gap stuff has the elastic (Zach wears a 2). If not try Land's End. They sell that at Sear's now too.
