April Grocery Savings Challenge

I know we usually do a general monthly savings challenge but since so many of us lately have talked about needing to cut down on our grocery expenses I thought it would be fun to see what each of us are doing to save this month.

So come back here every time you go grocery shopping (which includes household necessities like TP, laundry products, and cleaners) and let us know ...

With my speciality diet, groceries are quite an expense around here. So I won't be competing. But good luck everyone!

Total Spent -17.72
Sale Savings-1.88 (this is the same as the discount card at our store)
Coupon Savings-0
Customer Discount Card Savings -1.88
Total Savings-1.88

Not too good today, but we don't really have much to get.

Too bad this wasn't going on in March I got $35.28 worth of Venus razors for $1.40

I should be having a good couple of weeks soon though, I just got some great coupons at the store and I have a few trades coming in for some great ones, also some MIR's for cleaning products!!

I only had one of the $5 Venus coupons. I got a bunch of Totinos pizza rolls for .20 a box last week though! Kroger usually runs their sales for two weeks and I got hold of some more coupons so I'm hoping they are still 10/$10 this week when I go.

I didn't get any of the $5 coupons for venus I did trade for 12 of the $3 off ones though They have single razors in the checkout lanes for $2.94 so .06 overage!!

WTG on the totinos!!

Clearance Savings - 0.00 - there were no reduced meats or anything this week.
Coupon Savings - 13.67
Customer Discount Card Savings - 35.44
Total Savings - 49.11

That was for an entire week of groceries plus 2 cleaners, tp & paper towells, and a few baby items that I picked up!

Kmart today

I spent -32.55
Coupons-14.34
Rebates that I will receive for the items- $8.37

so, total out of pocket expenses-$9.84

Here's what I got too

3 Lysol All purpose Cleaners
1 Lysol All purpose cleaner refill
1 Lysol sanitizing wipes
2 Oust Sprays
4 trial size crest toothpaste
1 trial size edge shave cream
2 Lysol toilet bowl cleaners
Johnson Buddies Handsoap

Not too bad!!

I also went to wal-mart and here's what I got there

Total spent-17.12
Total Coupons-8.48
Total Out of Pocket-$8.64

5 Degree for men deodorant w/extra trial size included
1 huggies travel wipes
Huggies CleanTeam hand soap

woohoo! I am glad I found those deodorants for 2.34 -$1 coupon! Rhyne loves the trial sizes and it was cheaper to get that free with the reg. size.

It lifts your spirits to save money I think

On my shopping trip today I got a 2lb canister of dog food for free and a Gerber baby lotion for .33

ok, I'm just gonna add up most of the month in one summary - much easier, then I'll do my great shopping trip from today

Groceries

Total Spent- $169.84
Total Saved- $96.76

57% not bad, but not great either

Clothes and toys

Total Spent- $8.61
Total Saved- $53.97

627% savings!

Now, my grocery trip today

I got 40 boxes of Toaster Strudels (B1G1F) and 2 jars of pickles (b1g1f)

Total Spent- $16.79
Total Saved- $100.79

600% savings!!!!!!!

Now we're on to May!!!!!!!!
