Interviewing a potential sitter...

Ok. I have to make a list of questions I want to ask the potential sitters when I go to visit with them.

I just can’t think of everything I wanted to ask. And I can’t find the list of the ones I asked the last lady. Give me some ideas.

She charges $xx a day. Does she charge if they’re not there (sick, on vacation, etc.)? What day of the week does she want to be paid on? Does she prefer cash or check? Does she claim it on her taxes?

What is her policy on keeping sick children? (I think I already know this, as she told me she had one that wasn’t sick-sick, but had been sick the day before and the school wouldn’t let her back for 24 hours.)

I would also ask if she is CPR trained.
That's always an important one for me.

Here's one I've never been asked and I know it would be important to me. Are there guns in the house?

Is she licensed? If so you can check online to see if she's had any violations.

Will she always be the one to care for the children? I've heard of so many that leave the kids with a family member while they run errands.

Does she transport the kids anywhere? Like picking other kids up from school?

What is her method of discipline?

How many kids does she care for on a daily basis?

Can you have the phone numbers of a few current clients?
