Signs that labor is coming?

We all know about "dropping" and "bloody show" but what other signs have you heard of that supposedly signal an impending labor?

A friend's mother always said that your lips get fuller and darker in the few days before labor because of increased blood flow.

It's the date of my induction!

Sorry... I'm no help at all. I was induced with both kiddos.

I felt sick a few days before with the first. With #2 I don't think I had any signs.

I never really had any. Of course, I had non-productive labors with the first two

Weightloss right at the end of pregnancy.

I felt really crappy right before labor. I had an annoying back pain that just got worse and worse. I had the mucous plug thingy coming out as well with the bloody show. Pretty nasty. My baby didn't drop until I started pushing. He stayed right underneath my ribs! I had to push him down. Stubborn like his momma.

Re: Signs that labor is coming?

I would say that I am dealing with 1,2,4,5. I have a lot of Braxton Hicks, but my doctor doesn't put any stock into them, even though they hurt like crazy. I am likely to be induced on the 29th if she hasn't arrived by then.... we will see!

Re: Signs that labor is coming?

When I was pregnant I had a lot of people, including my mother, tell me that they started cleaning like crazy right before they went into labor. As a naturally messy, disorganized person, I was fairly certain this wouldn't happen to me and I was right. My husband was really looking forward to it happening, but no such luck. Lots of women do experience it though.

Re: Signs that labor is coming?

I went through a "nesting" period where I was cleaning and organizing like crazy but it happened a month or two before I delivered.

Re: Signs that labor is coming?

have any of ya'll had a mucus discharge instead of a regular chunk? When I went to the dr a couple of weeks ago I thought that I was leaking amniotic fluid and he said it was mucus from my plug. Today I lost a TON of nasty yellow color mucus but it doesn't look like the normal plug consistancy that I had with the others. Just thought that was strange and wanna make sure that I don't have some kind of infection. I know it's gross-sorry! I am now cramping and my back hurts too...prolly just hopeful that something is happening! LOL

Re: Signs that labor is coming?

Yes, with Jimmy one big clump. Jaedyn slowly lots of mucas with thick discharge. I began to have a bloody show when the plug completely fell out.

Re: Signs that labor is coming?

Oh and that took like 3-4 days....I would have much rather lost it all at once. Sometimes after a couple of tight braxton hicks or cramping a little more would come out....

Re: Signs that labor is coming?

yeah, I have lost a little bit of the clear geletin type stuff the past couple of weeks and that is what I had noticed with the other kiddos too. This time it was a huge glob of what looked like a light yellow snot Sorry, so gross! I googled it and others have had the same which makes me feel better and it was said to be the mucus plug and that is why I asked. I also never 'leaked' so much stuff my past pregnancies that the doctor said was mucus.
I just got over a yeast infection though and wanted to make sure that I haven't gotten some other kind of infection. I had no clue that I had the yeast-the doctor noticed. I had no noticable signs (itching etc). I am having a bunch more BH contractions today and my back is very crampy. I also have another strange feeling that I can't explain..way down like in my coocoo
I am just a paranoid. Also, last year I was on that novaring contraceptive for awhile and it ended up giving me bacterial vaginitis and I think that can be bad if you have it again while pregnant. The doctor did check me for it when I first started prenatal care and I was negative. You are much more prone to having VB after having it once and it can cause problems with miscarriage early in pregnancy and preterm labor later on.
Anyway, enough rambling...thanks for everyone's input-I really appreciate it!
