OMG—this is too hilarious!
My inlaws took Jonathan to Nemo on Ice. They paid $25 apiece for the tickets, so they were out $75 for the three of them to go. I told them I didn’t think it would be a good idea because he will not sit for two hours, but they really wanted to go, so more power to ‘em.
Well, DH called me from work last night and said he’d just talked to his parents and HAD to call and tell me what Jonathan did.
Now, as a little background, Jonathan loves fish, but he has never watched Nemo. Well, he did when he was about a year and a half old, but he doesn’t really remember it. He has a couple of Nemo toys and a couple of Nemo shirts, but it never really interested him. Also, he is scared of whales.
He refused to watch the Veggie Tales Jonah movie because the whale came up out of the water and cast a shadow over Jonah and Jonah got a scared look on his face. (This was on the preview of the movie.) Jonathan started screaming and we had to turn the video off. I’ve never even seen the rest of it. And he’s been scared of whales ever since. You can show him the cover of the movie and he’ll start shaking and whimpering. Kinda weird. Anyhow.
They went to the show and I guess they’d been there for a while and he was doing OK. But there is one part where this big whale (that’s what MIL called it, anyway) came out. Well, I guess it freaked him out, because he said “Bye, Nemo!” and grabbed MIL and FIL’s hands and started running for the door.

Moral of the story??? The kid know what he wants and he CAN talk when he wants to.

Elaine. I remembered there being a shark in the movie. I couldn't figure out where she got "whale" from.
