How should I feel?

Little Ethan was born a month ago. How should I be feeling physically? I am still sore and I don't know if this is normal or not. And some days I feel better then other days.

How did you feel a month after you delivered? I go to the doctor May 15 and will really see how I'm doing.

If it is your first you probably will be a little more sore. Delivery and postpartum is different for everyone so it's hard to say what is normal for you. Let your doctor know how you are feeling and any pain you are still having. Your doctor should know if there is anything abnormal.

I bounced back pretty quick with both of my pregnancy. My husband thinks I have a high pain tolerance. I'm not sure if I do or if I'm too stubborn to take drugs???

I had a rough time with Jessica (my first) and was still miserable when I went for my 6 week check up. I had a difficult delivery, so I'm not sure if that played a part in the recovery or not. Definitely talk to your doctor and let him/her know what is bothering you!

I also had a very difficult time with my 1st, I had a very bad episiotomy, I was laid up for two weeks after I gave birth with a cathetar and couldn't walk. I was sore for months and months (and wound up having surgery a year later to correct things down there) ... My back was sore for a full year from where I got the epidural.

With my 2nd this past fall, within 2 hours I really would have never known I gave birth.... I didn't have any stitches, I wasn't even sore - I had no problems whatsoever

Every woman is different but I do know that after the birth of my first child it took a very long time to recover. My episiotomy hurt for a long time - way past my 6-week check up. Also, exhaustion from taking care of a new baby can make recovery harder. Take things easy and be good to yourself. Nap if you get the chance. And if you feel things are taking longer than expected, talk to your doctor. Having a baby is hard on the body in many ways and recovery will happen eventually for sure.
