Please make sure your child is wearing their seatbelt correctly!!!

Always make sure that your child (that is old enough to sit without a carseat restraint) ALWAYS has their seatbelt correctly in place. The bottom part of the seatbelt should be on their HIPS and the top across their chest.
This is a picture of my nephew that was in a very bad car accident last Nov (or around that time, I don't remember the exact date). My bMother just sent me a bunch of the pictures from the accident and I could not believe it when I saw this one! Jacob was kinda slouching down in his seat and as you will be able to tell, the seatbelt was not positioned correctly. He had a lot of internal damage but luckily is doing just fine now. If he wasn't wearing his seatbelt he would have died...
Anyway, here is the picture. I think that I will STRONGLY enforce my children to wear their seatbelts the right way from now on! BTW, this was taken almost a week after the accident once he was able to come home from the hospital.

When my grandfather was in a serious car accident, he had a stroke... he swore he was NOT wearing his seatbelt... but he also bruised similar (but in the right spots) and we were so grateful.

Right now I am very lucky, Ryan is very anal about his seatbelt and if its off or not connecting correctly he lets me know ...

I am glad your nephew is now doing much better.

Thanks Dina..that is so good that Ryan is anal about his seatbelt, it could save his life.

I showed it to the boys and told them that is the reason we wear our seat belts properly. I am glad you posted Krista!
