t's bedtime and your toddler is having a meltdown, insisting on just one more episode of "Bob the Builder."

Well, parents, now TV might help.

Melanie the baby sitter, Star the puppet and Hush the goldfish are the stars of a new bedtime show on PBS KIDS Sprout.

You have GOT to be kidding me... Parents don't even have to put their kids to bed anymore. How lazy has this country gotten???

Some kids are a lot easier to put to bed than others. I've been thinking of checking it out.

If Kieran doesn't change I'll be checking it out as well. :cross: Here's hoping it'll be on dvd by then.

I hope it works for you.

I am not saying bedtime is easy. By no means would I ever say that. I have had to put three toddlers to bed and 2 of them share a room. It was never easy. But I really believe that people rely on the television too much for kids these days. That's just my opinion, but I just wanted to be clear that I didn't think toddler bedtime was easy. GL!

Ok first of all it comes on at 6pm .. I think it is just another part of bedtime "routine" .. soothing television at a prime time for toddlers to be watching television .. not necessarily a time to actually lay your child down to bed ... KWIM

Sound interesting .. we'll probably check it out because the is just before bathtime .. great time to calm down and relax.

I've been trying to get my dd to bed at a decent hour for three years. No amount of routine or whatever else we have tried has worked. I don't think this will work either, but it sounds like a pretty good show.

I've used the tv to fall asleep for years. I throw in a nice relaxing movie, zone and I'm out. TV is a nice and mindless distraction when your mind is spinning and won't stop. Maybe kids have the same problems we do, too many thoughts to really relax.

Alrighty - We've watched - but it comes on at 5pm here I am by no means putting my child to bed at 5. I dont even use it as a bedtime "thing" Its neat cause she does crafts and such and then Lyssa will want to learn to do it. But it definitly does not help Alyssa awant to go to bed (I honestly had no idea that was the plan of it) I think it makes it harder honestlt. The shws are shorter but they also come on faster (one after another) so its OOH I wanna watch this one and then they advertise the next so the second the first one is done and so on.

I htink parents need to do a better thing than let kids watch tv at bed time. The girls get no cartoons at night most nights.

I think its a neat idea... when Ryan was a baby baby I had a video called night time something ... it didnt put him to sleep, but he was too little to sit with books - but it calmed him down THEN we did our own routine

That's all I'd need... more TV for Lauren. Maybe it would be a good thing to help "calm" a child with a better TV choice, but I won't let Lauren watch cartoons/tv shows before bed. Gets her WAY too wound up! Plus, I love the whole bedtime routine with reading books for bedtime. It's one of our best times of the day.
