Will had pneumonia and now he is coughing worse than ever has had a few asthma attacks today and is coughing up THICK green junk. Should I take him to the ER or would it be ok to wait till the AM and call his DR.

I'm not the expert here, but just based on Mike's experience, it was actually a good sign when he started coughing up all that green junk ... meant he was getting it out of his lungs. He also coughed up some blood, which they told us to anticipate and that it was normal.

However, he does not have asthma, so that wasn't a factor. If you didn't take him to the ER last night, I'd definitely call the doctor first thing and try to get him checked out. How often have they been seeing him? Mike had to go daily for the first week, then twice a week for the next two, plus a follow up x-ray at 4 weeks. They really kept close tabs on him for quite awhile.

Just once a week for a antibiotic shot that was only for the first two weeks after he had it
I didnt take him to the ER cause I finally got him to sleep. We are heading to the DR as soon as they open at . They havent done a follow up xray on him only the shots

He has a severe URI and Bronchial spasms and Asthmatic Bronchitis
So they put him on steriods, codine cough meds, zithromax, if he isnt better in a week we will be spending a night in the hospital so they can tube him and drain this crud off his lungs. They think it is to think to cough up but they are going to give it a chance.

Poor guy! I am kind of wondering why they didn't treat it this aggressively when he was first diagnosed??? Hope the meds work because I'm sure that it won't be any fun in the hospital.

Because the DR that we saw two weeks ago has never worked with asthmatics and didnt have a clue what to do and didnt want to ask. ARGH that is what our Dr said yesterday.
