When to start finger foods...

When did you start?

I know all babies are different... with Ryan, at 7 months he was already on stage 3 foods, but I didn't try cheerios or biter biscuits or anything until almost a year... and then he used to gag on cheerios to the point where he threw up...

With Aidan at 7 months, I feel like he is so ready - but I am so into keeping him a baby... he is still one stage 1 and stage 2 baby food and there is still alot I have not given him... he shows all of the signs of being ready for something else... I am thinking of maybe putting a fruit in the mesh bag thing for him to try and just gnaw on ... and maybe I should switch to stage 3 to give him some texture...

Plus I have been trying not to give him any gluten yet ...but soon I will have too...

When did you start?

I thing Desiree was about nine months, Moses was about 7 months. He just seemed more ready then she was.

I think somewhere between 8 and 10 months if the baby can sit up well unsupported. It always made me nervous the first few times with my kids but before long I was tossing cheerioes at them to keep them happy.

Matthew is still at stage one, he can sit unassisted yet and besides, his pediatrician wants to wait for stage 2 foods unbtil he is 8-9 months of age.

I'm not sure about any of this either. Isaiah doesn't like baby food at all. He just spits it back up and he won't let me feed him with a spoon. Do you think it would be all right if I gave him a Gerber's Little Entree? He's really curious about food but everytime I try to feed him with a spoon he snatches it from me and grips it tightly and if I try and take it from him he throws a fit so I've pretty much given up.
