Bloody noses??

Jake is 3 and he has been getting at LEAST 4 bloody noses in one day, some days up to 8. I know it's not him picking his nose cuz I watch him, he'll be playing then suddenly his nose is bleeding. Or it will start bleeding while he is sleeping. It will stop within a few mins but it seems like just a few hours later his nose is bloody again I am not really sure what is causing it. It's very humid, pollen in the air like crazy, a typical NJ weather. So I am thinking it is allergies, but I was wondering if anyone had a child go through this, getting bloody noses like 20 times in one week with allergies.

Any suggestions?? TIA

Not my kids, but *I* do. I have to use Saline Spray about once an hour, and I sleep with a humidifier at night. If not, I'll get a bloody nose every time I blow my nose, or sometimes even just twitch it. But with it being a child, I'd have the doctor check it out just to be on the safe side!

I got frequent nose bleeds when I was a kid, and my older two were the same way. Our pediatrician recommended saline spray, but it was really hard getting them to let me put the spray in, so I didn't do it very often. Eventually, they outgrew the nose bleeding.

Oh poor thing. My DH gets bloody noses all the time. They get worse in the winter when it's dry and then again in the spring/early summer because of allergies. Sometimes they are REALLY bad and he just goes and takes a shower because it's easier to just let it bleed in the tub.

I'd call the ped and ask what you should do for him.

I get them from allergies too. It was worse when I was a kid. The others have said everything I know to do. I hope you can figure out a way to stop them soon.

Yup. Sounds like it could be allergies. Check w/the ped and see what they recommend. They might want to check him. That sounds like an awful lot of nosebleeds.
