Period pain... but no period

Hi all. Ok, so hubby and I just recently started trying to conceive. We actually decided to start a couple of months ago, but we got off to a slow start, and then a friend died, so I was kind of in a slump and babies were the last thing on my mind. So we finally started, only got to 2 nights and then I got a urinary tract infection, so I was done for that month!!! Anyway, I am 99% sure that I am not pregnant, since I just don't "feel" it. I haven't had any signs whatsoever. However, my period was due on Saturday and sure enough I started getting my usual period pains that let me know my period is coming. I got them several times on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday... but no period! That is kind of unusual for me because normally once I start getting my pains, the period follows pretty soon afterwards. Again, I really don't think I'm pregnant, but as the days pass and I still didn't get my period, I'm really starting to wonder! Is it possible that I would still get my period pains if I am pregnant? My period has never been 100% accurate with timing, but this is odd that I'm having the pains. So I was just wondering if anyone knew about that. I really hadn't gotten my hopes up this month because we did it so infrequently, but now I think my mind is just screwing with me!!!

I'm not completely sure... But I *think* I read somewhere that cramping after conception around the time AF is due is normal... You should test, just to be sure! I know for me, sometimes I would get my hopes up, and then AF would be late, so my hopes would get up even more, but then she'd finally show after I'd tested and gotten a BFN lol.

I had the same experience with this pregnancy. Ask anyone on the boards who reads my journal, and they will tell you that I did not think I was pregnant. I had cramps and backache and other period symptoms, so I just thought that my period, which is also irregular, was late but on its way. Boy was I wrong!
I think you should buy a home pregnancy test just to be sure.

Every time that I was pregnant, I would get the cramping, but my period would never start. If your period was due this weekend, a pregnancy test first thing in the morning would probably detect any pregnancy hormone if you are indeed pregnant. I'd test ... otherwise you'll just drive yourself crazy with all the wondering!

Good luck!

I wouldn't have thought I was PG either. My hubby even looked at me and told me I wasn't pregnant 2 days before I finally tested. Oh, and if I wasn't naseous I wouldn't even know I was pregnant. I don't feel any different even now at 11 wks 6 days.

I'd test to get it over with, if nothing else you'll get your period as soon as you test. That's what always happened to me.

sounds like some of the girls have had your experrience with positive results!!

I agree that you should get a test. either it will make your day or it will bring AF on.

The pain could be from implantation. You may be pregnant. It never hurts to check. If you aren't pregnant and are still having pain you may want to see your md.

I had period pain with every one of my pregnancies. I would take a test if AF doesn't show up soon.

Well, ladies, you were right. I took the test overnight and it was positive! I think I'm still in shock. I just can't believe it happened so quickly and it still seems so strange to me. Now I'm crossing my fingers that everything will go well.

Thanks for all your feedback. I thought this was all in my head until I got so many responses with similar stories.

Congrats! That's how I found out too. I just decided on a whim to test and not even tell DH I was doing it. I had to bring the test down with the instructions and hand it to him to be sure

Congrats Nina I didn't see your post earlier, but I had really bad cramping before I found out I was pregnant. I kept thinking that AF was going to start but didn't. About a week later, I tested and got a positive result. Congrats and good luck!!!!!!!!!!!
