Double Stroller opinions

OK we dont want to spend tons of $$ and in reality are looking for a used one in good shape for less than $50 (or about)

So after everyone around here wanting $100 for their used double strollers (and after research I found the same ones for $150 new) I decided to look on ebay.

I found this one and its close enough to me that I can pick up. But I wanted to know if anyone had any personal /friends/family experiece with it (or ya know where I might be able to read reviews on it)

I did locate that it is a walmart brand and sells for $98 plus shipping (my walmart doesnt caryy doublestrolers that I have ever seen) which would make it just as expensive as a higher end stroller that I can pick up in person.

We will only use it a few times a month until the baby is born and then we will probably use it almost daily if I walk Lyssa home from school.

So any thoughts?

I had a Graco Duo Glider. I don't know anyone who has your stroller, sorry.

I've been looking at the Duo Glide too - I just can't find anyone who has one for sale and I havent convinced Kev that we should just buy a new stroller.

I had the older "limosine'' style twin pram for the boys and had a couple of issues with what was otherwise a very good pram. They would probably be valid for any duo pram.

1. Unless you are tall enough to push down on the handle to lift the front wheels up when going up a curb or into a shop etc most people will put push down on the rear axle to help lift the front wheels, this can cause the rear axle to bend or buckle so check that out, it could be why her back wheel is wobbling (if the axle is no longer straight it would pull the wheel out of alignment) This was true of a variety of duo prams not just the one I had. (I was in a Multiple Birth Group for years - equiptment that developed faults was a large topic of conversation, as was contraception amazingly enough )

2. When you have older children watch out the one in the back is not belting the one in front, or pulling their hair or most importantly, pulling on the pom pom of the hat that is tied around his brothers throat (you can ask Tk how that feels altho I seriously doubt he remembers - Rick really wanted that Pom Pom and Tk really wanted to not be decapitated )

Good luck with it, if the axle is fine and you can lift it up the curb by pushing down on the handle with both of your kids in it, it looks like a fantastic buy.

Thanks for the advice! It will be mainly for new baby & Kate. But we will probably use it for Lys & Kate a few times before winter (like the State fair)

We tried the wagon a few weeks ago and it worked for awhile then Lys wanted to walk then KAte wanted to wlak then I was trying to watch two walking kids while pulling an empty wagon with our stuff.

We have a Duoglider (Samba one) and a Peg Perego Aria Twin and like them both very much. The Aria is great but its not heavy duty at all. The Graco has wrked really well too and it holds a carseat in the front or the back.

Karen - this looks like the exact same one I have (that my sister is borrowing.)

My honest opinion... did NOT like it. It weigh's like 50 pounds... without kids and diaper bags. It was not the easiest thing to push and it was so heavy. I only used it 3-4 times.

If you are going to get one soley for walking... I would suggest something like this:

I've never tried it, but a friend of mine has one like that and LOVES it.
Not convienent for mall shopping, but for walking it's the best.

Good luck!!

Well - I guess since my DH is a cheapo if we can get it cheap we can use it for the rest of this year and then next year buy a better model.

I only for see use using it for flea markets & fairs for the most part and the random trips to the mall to see Santa

I think I sold mine at the last year rummage. Sorry.

I had a greco and I got it for a shower gift for Brittany. I was like why do I need a double and the other ladies were like trust us you will. I used it all the time. It was so much easier to carry diaper bag and all. Mine wasn't too heavey. I will try to see if I can find one like it.

Loved it.

Re: Double Stroller opinions

I wouldn't particularly recommend getting non-branded double strollers or pushchairs for frequent use, especially secondhand for that low a price- unless you're fully confident that it is a trustworthy and proven device. Considering you will be using it almost every day heavily I'd normally suggest to friends to go with a high-quality specialist brand like Britax, Maclaren, Graco, Phil & Teds or similar so as to avoid any disappointments and lost time and money down the track. These high-end brands frequently come with a good warranty/guarantee too which can help remove any doubts you may have.

Best wishes all who're reading this thread.
