Flying with a newborn?

I need to know if any of you have experience flying with a newborn baby?

How old were they? How'd it go?

Does anyone know how young they can fly? Is there an age requirement? (Thinking safety of baby)

You see we are to go to Key West on Jan 6/7 IF I make it to my Due date baby will be like 10 days old when we go. Is it ok for them to fly that young?

I didnt go with Kate 2 years ago cause I thought she'd only be 2 weeks at the time and didnt think she's be allowed to fly.

But I told Kev I want to go this time (we may leave the eldest two at home) even if the baby is fresh.

So ASSUMING I am good and baby is good is it safe for babies to fly that young?

Karen,

Talk with your OB, I don't see an issue with it. I know my ex sister-inlaw flew with her daughter at 6 weeks to London!

We flew with Jessi when she was about 6 weeks. I doubt there's an age limit if they are healthy, but I can't imagine *me* feeling like flying 10 days postpartum!

Take a pacifier on the plane for sure. Sucking on something will help the baby's ears pop when the elevation changes.

Well After Kate I didnt even feel like I had just given birth., Other than being a bit tired the first few days I felt great.

All I found online was a week old. (I dont think I'd fly before they got their 2 week check up to make sure they were all ok)

AFter we had Liz, we checked with the airline to see how old she had to be in order to fly. You can fly with them right away. All you have to do is be sure to either have baby nurse/drink or suck on a soother for the landing.

When I had asked about it, they told me not the first 2 weeks, because their are alot of germs in that environment
