4th of July Traditions

Do you or did you have any traditions? When I was younger we had a neighborhood block party every year. It always turned into a huge water fight then war would start with another party group down the street. I loved it- it was such a blast. The men would do the fireworks and always put on a great show. Besides a few fireworks going stray it was alwayas safe too.

No never did. Now we go to Alabama and load up and just do them in our driveway. The neighbors will come over and watch. I guess that is our new tradition.

We go to the fireworks display downtown. That's about it for us.

When I was little we went to the parade and then the fireworks. Now we just work. No special tradition. Maybe someday.

Same here - when we were younger we had a block party too- it was a pool party that was combined with the entire neighborhood, everyone brought food -and we swam and they did fireworks (which I always hid from) It was so much fun.

I would love to do something like that in our neighborhood... but I only like 2 of our neighbors!

Growing up, we were usually at my Grandmas cottage, so we swam all day and watched fireworks over the lake at night. (The cottage was near the fairgrounds where they were being shot off)

Now we go to the 4th of July parade in the town DH and I grew up and go to the fireworks in the town next to ours.

My family always gets together for a BBQ either at my aunts or at my house. Dh gets fireworks for the kids and I hide inside while the set them off. (I hate fireworks..I'd rather go and watch a display, it's safer!)
