Why won't my kid pee?????

Argh! I'm having the hardest time potty training Aaron. He knows what to do, he just says no most of the time I ask. We even cheer for him and give him M&M's when he does, but he just doesn't want to. Now he can't go to pre-school in the fall unless he's potty trained. I need him to go for my sanity. And I'm just talking about peeing. Pooping in the potty won't be for a long while I'm afraid. I'm at my wit's end! What can I do?

First to you cuz potty training is just so hard!
Honestly, my best advice with potty training is to just leave em alone. Seriously, I have never succeeded when I am 'trying' to potty train my children. Put diapers back on him and just tell him that when he is ready to start using the big boy potty to let you know otherwise he will be wearing diapers fulltime again. I promise you that it won't be long until he realizes that he wants to be a big boy.

Has he picked out his own underwear yet? I've found that letting them do that, then setting a goal (like 2 weeks with no accidents) and letting them have a prize for doing that (each of my kids had their sight set on a different toy, so that was their prize) worked best for us.

In each case though, I also did what Krista said and just pretty much left them in diapers until they showed an interest. I just kept reminding them that they could have *that* toy when they started wearing big boy/girl undies and having no accidents.

The other interesting thing is that they just seem to potty train over night. So just because he isn't doing well today, doesn't mean he won't be completely potty trained by the fall.

Good luck! It's not fun, but oh so worth it when it's done!

The ladies have good advice. Also try the cheerios/fruit loop game... put some in the toilet and tell him to try and "sink" them! Might work. I am trying to get Justin interested in it, but so far no luck here.

Maybe he isn't ready. If the suggestions above don't work I would try again in a month or so.

i agree... every child is different... and if they aren't ready then there is nothing you can do to make them ready!! i hope he gets the hang of it soon for you!!

Maybe he isjn't ready. I agree with all the other girls too ... I have to say bribes are what worked on our house... did I say bribes???? I meant ... prizes =) Besides, everyone is ready at their own time
