Nutrisystem

I think is the correct name of it. I keep seeing a commercial for them. I think they are the one that sends you out prepackaged meals, 3 a day plus snacks. My neighbors MIL has been doing it. She has lost 40 lbs in a couple of months. They say it equals out to less than $10 a day. Plus you get 4 weeks and then one free week. I was thinking it would be easier than having to go buy all the crap you need to eat a diet. I mean I end up spending a ton. Not sure if I figured it out right, but say it is $10 a day for 4 weeks, that would be $280. That is for 5 meals a day (3 meals, 2 snacks), 5 a day for 7 days = 35 a week. So for 5 weeks, it is 175... 175 divided by the cost of $280 = .63 cents per meal?? Is that right? Jeez, I would end up with a huge savings on groceries. Not counting diapers and formula, I spend about $150 a week and that is not counting the run to the stores during the week.

If you have done it, or know someone who has, did it work? Was the food edible? Is it worth it?

Jennifer, my friend did Jenny Craig (I don't know if that is local to CT??) but it's like Nutrasystem. She found it hard to stay on the diet for dinner and really couldn't go out and eat with friends. I suppose if her boyfriend was more supportive she would have lasted longer. She tried to do just breakfast and lunch and eat a healthy (normal) dinner then finally stopped it altogether.

However, I friend in high school did it and lost like 40 lbs and looked great. And my friend who tried it but stopped has another firend who did it years ago and has kept the weight off for years.

I read an article on the Nutrisyatem and other plans. From what I read, the food is pretty bland, and once you stop eating it and eat normal foods you gain the weight back. Plus, you still hafta add some fresh fruits and other thing to the food as well.

My friend who did Jenny Craig just called and I asked her about it....she said Nutrisystem isn't frozen food but comes in sort of a "gel" she said the Jenny Craig stuff is frozen and much better tasting (just not much of it) and Jenny Craig is more expensive (about $150 per week after all the stuff they want you to have).

I have a friend who went on it about 10 years ago. He did really well on it and seemed to like it, but he developed a medical condition (not-related to the diet) and his doctor told him to go off of it while he was doing treatments. He never went back on it. .
