Just Moved

Ok we just transfered here to MD... This was the first time in my DH's career he's ever had to move. He only has this last three years left.... Grrrrrr.....

Anyway.. The packers were not very good at packing, and obviously the movers weren't the best either!! I just opened a box and a whole sturdy statue was broke. Not just broke, but shattered!! Not only was it not packed well it was packed with some odd things... The statue didn't have paper around it, but did have coloring books and a hack saw packed with it!!!

My problem is that no one really wants to take the blame... I call one number and they say to call another number, it's one big mess!!

Please tell me I'm not the only one who has had problems with military funded moves!!

Where are you in Maryland? My dh was stationed at Ft. Detrick his last three years in the Army. Also, Bridget is from the Baltimore area and she might have some ideas for fun things for your family to do there.

I'll have to ask dh about that. I have no idea where that is. I figured you were at Ft. Detrick or Ft. Meade.

Oh, I would LOVE to be sandwiched between water. There will be NO water where we are going ... Phoenix, AZ!! Yikes! I don't know how this water baby is going to survive. LOTS of road trips to California, I suppose.

I grew up in PA and we vacationed along the MD and DE coasts. I remember it to be very peaceful and beautiful along the Chesapeake Bay, but that could just be rose-colored memories, ya know? There are several groups that have been working to protect the Bay. How is the water now? Just wondering how effective their work has been ...

Anyway, I hope you find something you can love about Maryland. There's nothing else on earth like Maryland Blue Crabs with drawn butter, if you're into that kinda thing. It can be therapeutic smashing crabshells with small wooden mallets, too!!

Don't forget the old bay seasoning and beer on newspaper table cloths...I wanna go home and get some, LOL. There's alot to do there. And the bay is looking better every year.

Make sure you take pictures and you should have gotten a form that you had to sign when the movers dropped off your items. On the back of that form is a place for you to add items that you have found to be broken after the people dropped off your things. Then you take those to the claims office at the Legal office and they will help you set up on appointment to file your claim. I just got back from Germany and I worked in the claims office. Hope that helps.
