Is this a bad gift?

My best friend's birthday is in about a week and a half. She's expecting in October. I was thinking about buying her a nice maternity top and sending it to her for her birthday. Usually, you don't buy anything new for yourself when you get toward the end. At least, I didn't

Is this a bad gift idea, or do you think she'd enjoy it?

I think it would be a great gift but because when you are expecting so much is focussed on the baby, I would include a bottle of nice lotion or something else inexpensive that is a pampering type thing.

I have a ton of stuff I need to send her for the baby, but I just haven't yet. Blankets, boppy, crib organizer. I got all baby stuff for Christmas right before I had Jonathan and I remember thinking "What about ME?" I thought it would probably be better to send something for HER and then send that separate. I haven't bought her any "stuff" in a long time. I was goign to send her a gift card, but she'd probably just use it on the baby or her little boy. Hmmm...

When my BIL's girlfriend had a baby shower, I did two gifts - an outfit for the baby, and then a gift basket with soaps, lotions, scrubby gloves, bubble bath, etc., for her. She loved it. I just picked out a bunch of stuff at Target, and put it into a decorative box I had lying around.

I think your friend would love something just for her.

I did the same thing as Zyrilia-- I bought my SIL outfits for her twins, and a basket of soothing type things for her (lotion, Nora Jones first CD, etc).
