Re: Poison Control Center Information

If the mother gets food poisoning after birth or the baby? If the mother gets food poisoning after birth and is not breast feeding, probably nothing happens to the baby. If the mother is breast feeding, it most likely does not pass onto the baby in the milk. As medical professionals recommend mother's continue to breastfeed even while sick with a regular illness, I would imagine the advice is the same - to continue breastfeeding if you can.

If the baby gets food poisoning, that would be a trip to the ER.

If you're breastfeeding and you didn't already have food poisoning you may need to stop because of the medications you have to take to get better could be harmful to the baby. There's a free number you can call and they'll research it for you its for pregnant women and women who are breastfeeding. 1877-311-8972
