Kimberly will turn 5 on Oct 18th. Our state says she has to be 5 before Sept 30. SOOOOOO since her birthday is 18 days late, she has to be in PreK-4 this year.

Anybody else's kiddo's starting school late cuz of their birthdays?

Treys best friend's birthday is Sept 14th so Matthew will be in K3 while Trey is in k4. Sucks!

My brother was Sept 18th and he had to wait an extra year.

Both of mine are March so we are good.

Our School has a Septmber 1st date to be 5. Darien turned 5 June 30, so he can go.

Alyssa makes the cut off. Her birthday was Aug 14th and cut off is Sept 1st.

Our cut off date is September 1st too .. Kale's cousin is 5 weeks younger than he is and will have to be in PreK this year. It stinks .. I think that if they turn 5 in the same year they should have a placement test.

Yeah, Zachary missed it by 18 days so all his cousins and family friends the same age are a year ahead of him which sux for him but ultimately I was glad he had an extra year of Preschool because I had heard that boys should never go to Kindy early due to maturity.

Ours is the Sept 1st cut off and Livvy's bday is the 25th. We didn't want her to repeat preK because she is reading already and it just seemed that she would be bored. So she goes to a Montessori and absolutely LOVES it. We can't put her in public school until 2nd grade or they will make her repeat a grade.

Our school systems have a Sept 30th cut off date.
Austin's bday is in July. \
He was a young kinderkid. Most of the other kiddo's were about to turn 6, or already 6. He was barely 5 when he started Kindy.
He could have really waited another year, and been going into Kindergarden NOW, rather than heading into First grade. Several of his little boy friends will be repeating kindy because they aren't ready, maturity reason's of course.

Once Austin got into out Mt Gilead school's he did SO SO much better. He read Charlotte's Web earlier this summer with his babysitter!!!

Must be an American thing. Our cut off date is Dec 31st. so all of logans friends will start school a year before him as he is a feb baby

i have been wishing they would change it to a sept 1 cut off since i heard you all had it

he would go at the same age, but his friends would be there with him

The cut ff here is 12/1 amd Logan is 10/9 so he will start at 4. Samantha was 4/19 so she had to wait a year.

In Ct our cut off is 12/30 as well.
Kyler turns 5 on 11/25... and he'll be starting Kindergarden in two weeks. He'll still be 4.

I'm just worried that she is going to be bored in PreK4. She did 1/2 year of preK4 last year before we realized she couldn't start Kinder til next year. She's going to a Catholic school and they don't do placement tests. She's excited about starting though so I hope we have a good year!

up here our cut off day is February 27th. Liz didn't turn 5 until April 9th so she had to wait...which erally sucked since she was way more than ready to start. I guess, though, that they have to have a cut off time somewhere...but it sucks that your guys' cut off time is so early.

I think it should be a placement test no matter what so the teacher knows what she/he is in for.

Since Haley turns 5 on December 23rd, she is way out of the range to start kindergarten this year. Luckily her daycare also offers a private kindergarten class and I enrolled her in that. They can go at 4 as long as they pass a placement test and I'm positive she can. I want her to be able to go into 1st next year and get an early start; I think she's more than ready.

Nick would be a year behind to. His birthday is Oct 2nd and the cut off is Sept 1st. I'm not planning on putting him in public school.

No one is giving you a problem like telling you to hold him back ayear ??? my neigboor is a 3rd grade teacher and she keeps telling me to hold alexis back a year and start next year... i think she is ready and the kinder teacher told me she was passed all her tests..SOOOOOOOO I guess all the teachers are gonna hate me ..but i don't care !!!!!

No. Nobody even HINTED to keep him back.
He went to the 4 year old program at the Nursery school in town and about 1/2 of the kids are the same age as Kyler. (Like a month different.) I know that 2 girls are the same WEEK as Kyler and they are turning 5 as well. And, Ryan (Dee's son) is turning 5 two weeks earlier.

Dee said she's run into many parents that ARE holding there children back. I personally haven't. Everyone I know is sending there child to kindergarden.

I was told I should hold Logan back by other parents. But he was evaluated last year when he was having such behavior problems ans the superintendent oversees it all. He personally called me and told me not to hold him back. He said that Logan needs to be in school. Once he is in the system they are forced to help him. I also talked to his ped abouti t and she said the same thing. If I dont put him in then its a wasted year. He may end up having to repeat kindy next year but its the best way to get him the help he needs. He is very outgoing, implusive, would rather be playing outside then sitting down and doing school work. The ped also noticed a slight speach problem. Untill I talked to her I was having panic attacks about putting him in. If he was a shy introverted child then I would hold him out but he isnt. So since the superintendent and the ped said its the best thing for him then I am going to sgree with them. I am still worried but I feel better after talking with them.

Justin will have to start late. His birthday is November.

Henry will be five on Sept. 27, and the cut-off is Sept. 30. I'm not sending him. Our school strongly recommends not sending kids who have are just turning five in August/ September, and I don't know anybody who has sent their just turned five year olds. There's a large number of kids, especially boys, in William's class who had spring birthdays, and their parents kept them back a year, so they'll be nineteen by the time they graduate.

TJ doesn't turn 5 until December, but he's more than ready. I wish that if they don't make the cut off, they'd allow for a placement test like Roxanna suggested. If they aren't ready, that's fine, but I don't think all 5 year olds are necessarily ready for that matter either.

Faith's Birthday is in early December, so she had to start Kindergarten at almost 6 years old last year.
