Falcon - Air Force
Mule - Army
Bulldog - USMC
Goat - Navy (had to ask Mom lol)
Dog and Cat- Coast Guard?
3 I knew, I asked on the one and one was just process of elimination LOL
I had to look up the Navy and the coast guard too which is where I found out that the coast guard has indiividual mascots for each ship not an official mascot for the entire branch of service.
I've always thought it was because Army used pack mules all the way through WWII. Heck, they may be using them in rough terrian now. It was the Navy goat that threw me for a loop. I figured it would be a frog or a seahawk or a dolphin - at least a marine animal.
The choice of the mule as a mascot reflects the long-standing usefulness of the animal in military operations -- hauling weapons, ammunition, and supplies. Strong, hearty, and persevering, the mule is truly an appropriate symbol for the Corps of Cadets.
