Randy's birth story

It all started on Sunday afternoon. I began having contractions 5 minutes apart that were lasting about 45 seconds. I went to the hospital to get checked out and was only 3 centimeters dilated and I had another UTI. They watched me overnight, and because I had no dilation or cervical changes, they decided to send me home about 9 a.m. on Monday morning. Around 12:30 on Monday afternoon, I went to the restroom and discovered a ton of mucos and bloody show. I was still having contractions, but I wasn't timing them. Around 6:30 that night, I began having actual clots of blood along with the loss of mucos and I panicked. I was having contractions, but I had no idea how far they were apart or anything, but I went to the hospital anyway. They did an internal exam and discovered that I was 4 centimeters dilated and about 80% effaced. My OBGYN said that if I did not go on my own by 5:00 a.m on Tuesday morning, they would start pitocin because I was 4 cm dilated (advanced cervical dilation). At around 3:30 a.m. I allowed them to do another internal exam. I was having some pretty good contractions, but nothing that I couldn't handle. At that time, I was 5 cm dilated and 95% effaced. At 5 in the morning, they started me on pitocin. At that time, I still refused to get an epidural or anything for pain. Around 8:30 a.m. my doctor came in to break my water, which didn't take much because he just barely touched it and it busted all over the place!!! I began pushing a little after 9 and at 10:02 a.m. Randy was born!!! I had NO epidural or pain medication of any kind during my labor or delivery! The only thing that was done was the doctor numbed around my vagina to do an episiotomy and to repair it after the birth. After Randy was out, the doctor started saying something about prepping the OR and getting an anesthesiologist in my room STAT!! I was bleeding and they could not get me to stop. I lost 1500 cc of blood and took 2 shots in my upper thighs before FINALLY the bleeding slowed to a manageable amount. That was SO SCARY!!! It's going to take me several months to fully recover because I lost so much blood, and my doctor also told me that I should not get pregnant for at least a few years, because the next time, I could die from bleeding!!!

Well ladies, there's my story, hope you enjoyed reading it. It was WORTH every moment of it to hold my beautfiul little son.

wow, that was scary. But little Randy is here and well. I hope you weren't planning on having another one, soon, that would be hard to deal with after being told you can't, But at least Randy and you are healthy, now.

How scary! Did they tell you why you were hemorraging? I had some problems like that with Jessi, but they managed to get it under control when the placenta finally delivered. I'm sure it'll be a few years before you get past that enough to do it again! I know it took me quite a while to even agree to have another one!

Glad everyone is doing well now and can't wait to see pixes!

I'm glad everything turned out ok. I have a friend who from the sounds of your story has the same issue after her labor. She has easy labor but the bleeding does not want to stop. She has 4 kids.

That was quite a harrowing experience at the end. I'm glad you're going to be okay and that Randy's okay. Congratulations!

Hi everyone. Randy weighed 8 pounds and 7 ounces. He was 20 inches long. His head was 14 inches and his chest was 13.5 inches. It was a scary experience, I felt myself slowly slipping away, and there is a picture of me shortly after, I was completely white. But I can tell you, IT WAS WORTH IT!! He's a little angel and I love him SO much. I'm going to post a pic on the appropriate section, so I hope you all go and see my little baby.
