That is very strange! I have never heard of such a thing..I think that I would be taking him to the Urgent Care center or something-what if it is something contagious?

Do you have Call a Nurse, or something like that?

The first part sounds a lot like fifths disease... it starts a fever and then a few days later with a slapped cheek look and then quickly spreads over the entire body. I had it last summer. I know it can cause joint pain and stiffness but I've never heard of it causing swollen ankles.

It could be an allergic reaction. Did he have anything new today at lunch?

Does it itch? Because it could be hives and all I know to do for hives is a baking soda bath and benedryl. Poor baby. He's just covered.

You're right. It's not chicken pox. I get reaction rashes like that, but the swelling is usually in my tongue or throat not around my ankles. I hope you figure what it is.

They look like hives to me ... Cody gets them every once in a while if he gets overly hot and sweaty, particularly if he's been playing in the grass. Looks totally miserable whatever it is!

I was gonna say hives too. And keep an eye out cause I have heard that strep throat is going around and when I was about 6 I broke out from head to toe(literally..even under my hair and between my toes) with Hives....turned out that it was brought on by a strep infection!

As for not being around anything new...it could be something in the metal of the glasses(you said it started on his face), or some kid he was playing with's new detergent, lotion..etc., or even something he is just developing an allergy to.

my question would be did the school change what they clean with or what they wash the nap mats with?

i'm glad he isn't itchy.

looks like it would be miserable if it was itchy.

i hope it calms down overnight

i, in the past have suffered from swollen ankles and an icky rash on my calves above my socks from excessive heat and working to hard... dr gave me stuff that fixed the rash within a day. it never itched, but also it never went anywhere else

I was thinking it looked like hives too..

Does he know you're deploying?
Because if he did, then my thought may have been that he could be really upset about it and his body is reacting, rather than his emotions as much.
That's what happened to Austin when my Mom died, he ended up with hives all over his body.

Poor guy.. atleast he's not itchy..

aww... i'm glad that the Benadryl seems to be working!!

I am glad he is doing better, poor little guy, and poor mommie. Its the worst when we cant figure out what is wrong with them

During the day he can take the claritinD reditabs. That way he wont be tired. Hives can come from ANYTHING. I get them every 3 years. No reason just come like clock work since I was 16 just like AF.

When Brittany has gotten them (hives) Benadryl at night and Claritin during the day.,

Poor lil man ! Did they go away ??
Sounds like he was allergic to something. I hope he doesn't come in contact with it again.

I know that hives can be brought on by all sorts of things.....the heat can do it, or stress, or new food, detergents, etc.....

Glad the benedryl helped!
