Right on, Abby!

DEAR ABBY: I need your advice on how to break an engagement with my fiance, whose tour of duty in
Iraq has been extended four more months. He has been there eight months, and during his absence, I met someone else I would like to start dating.

I didn't want to stress out my fiance, and I wanted to wait until he returned to talk to him, but now I feel too guilty, so I need to address it soon. Please help me. -- FEELING GUILTY, MEMPHIS, TENN.

I loved Abby's answer to this person. It is no fun to be overseas serving your country and get a Dear John/Jane letter. Abby!

I read that! Good for you Abby!

I still remember some chick on the local radio station right after 9/11 that called up whining that she was going to dump her fiancee because he volunteered to go to Afghanistan and since he chose the military over her, she was done with him. They ripped her a new one! And then some! What a spoiled brat! Probably the best thing that ever happened to him!

Abby! It sounds like the guy would be better off without her - if she can't handle an 8-month seperation without shopping for a new guy, then she obviously isn't military-wife material, you know? And she's in such a hurry to dump him now... why can't she wait the 4 months and dump him when he gets home?

Uggh! And the sad thing is that happens all to often!

Geez almighty!! I couldn't imagine writing a "Dear John" while my fiance' was overseas!! Like someone said... If she can't handle this seperation she is not military-wife material!! It's hard work and emotionally challenging being a military wife!! My DH has went out several times over the last few years... I'm just thankful that he's not Army. I give way more credit to Army wifes then I do myself!!

If this "witch" broke it off with him.. I feel bad for him, but he don't need her!! They were engaged though and he was probably really looking forward to getting back and marrying her, really giving him something to make it through for.....
